Atelier Fine Art Services and Storage, is seeking a highly motivated, responsible and organized Art Storage Assistant. The Art Storage Assistant is an integral member of the team responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the Atelier Fine Art Services (“AFAS”) Storage Facility in The Bronx, New York according to Atelier and fine art services industry best practices. Atelier FAS has several museum-quality storage facilities on the East Coast, and employs staff in the areas of Client Services, Logistics, Operations, Art Handling, Registration, Fabrication, Storage and Security.Reports to: Storage Director, Storage ManagerPrimary working relationships: Logistics, Client Services, Facilities, Registration, Art Handling, SecurityExperience Level: Art HandlerPrimary Responsibilities:Facilitate the receipt or release of shipments at/from Atelier Storage including but not limited to: direct loading/offloading from/to long-term or temp storage areassign eBoLs as shipper or consignee as appropriate for property in transitensure accuracy of cross-docking fields on eBoLs to maintain accurate inventory of all property in temp storage Organization and Maintenance of the following areas to facilitate best industry practices:maintain temp and long-term staging areasloading dock & any other associated areasfollow best industry standards and practices to make sure that areas are kept free of debris and kept clean at all times. Assist the Director of Storage and the Storage Manager with management of Atelier Storage, including but not limited to: install and reconfigure racking and cage units escort and monitor contractorsgeneral building maintenance, improvement, and repair. Provide in-house art handling and packing for storage-related projects, including: install or stage works of art in the viewing room or gallery unpack/repack works in storage as requested by clientsaccompany/assist conservators, photographers, appraisers, framers, and other fine art service providerscondition reports. Organize and maintain supply storage and works area(s); maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment, and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order.Other duties that may be required.
