Ortuzar is seeking a full-time Gallery Assistant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to complete tasks promptly and efficiently. General Operations:Opening and closing the galleryFront desk attendant: Maintain front desk cleanliness, keeping exhibition materials stocked and orderly, Interact with clients/general public (a working knowledge of current and past exhibitions is necessary) Answer phones and general email enquiries; direct enquiries to appropriate salesperson Open and organize mail + packagesMaintain general gallery cleanliness and office organization (trash, recycling, dishwasher, etc.)Procure office necessities and monitor subscriptionsMaintain gallery calendar Making shipments and sending packagesExhibition/Fair Responsibilities: Exhibition preparation (Formatting checklists and press release, updating website, tracking exhibition enquiries, reception and artist dinner coordination)Create exhibition and art fair previews using Adobe Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop, liaising with DirectorsMaintain artwork inventory and client database using ArtlogicDraft email newsletters and maintain mailing list via ArtlogicFormat images for Instagram using PhotoshopAssisting associate archivist with library inventory and press archivingCreating exhibition and art fair maquettesMaking and updating gallery face chartsAdditional projects as directed by the Directors and Gallery ManagerHelping out at openings and ensuring supply of beveragesQualifications:Experience with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign required) Outstanding collaboration, teamwork and people skillsAbility to remain calm and work in fast-paced situationsWillingness to assist in areas outside of job descriptionStrong written and verbal communication skillsA positive, helpful, team player attitudeA genuine enthusiasm in the functions of a commercial art gallery and an interest in growing in a gallery environment
