Gallery AssociateA young contemporary art gallery with a strong curatorial reputation is seeking a full-time Gallery Associate to join its team. This is a role for someone eager to grow into greater responsibility over time, with a clear path toward sales and artist management.Registration & OperationsManage inventory and artwork records for approximately 8–10 represented artists, primarily based in Los Angeles and New York, with occasional projects involving artists in other locations.Maintain accurate records in Arternal, including artwork details, provenance, exhibition history, location tracking, consignments, and loans.Draft and administer consignment and loan agreements, ensuring timely follow-up at the conclusion of each term.Coordinate domestic and international shipping, obtaining competitive quotes and overseeing logistics for exhibitions, collectors, and art fairs.Schedule and manage freelance art handlers, installers, and technicians for exhibitions, fairs, and special projects.Oversee post-sale logistics, including packing, shipping, installation estimates, and client communication with collectors, advisors, and institutions.Coordinate photography of artworks and exhibitions; maintain organized digital archives across the gallery server and Arternal.Obtain framing estimates and oversee framing projects as required.Prepare and issue invoices for artwork sales.Gallery AdministrationOpen and close the gallery with professionalism and care; remain available outside regular hours for exhibition openings, collector appointments, and gallery events as needed.Attend exhibition openings and public programs outside standard business hours.Maintain artist CVs, press archives, and website content in accordance with the gallery\'s editorial and visual standards.Manage the gallery calendar, coordinating exhibitions, installations, photography, art fairs, shipping deadlines, artist birthdays, and other key dates.Execute gallery communications across Mailchimp, Instagram, and the gallery website, including exhibition announcements, press releases, invitations, and newsletters.Prepare exhibition price lists, sales PDFs, artist dossiers, and presentation materials using Adobe InDesign.Events & ProgrammingAssist in planning and producing exhibition openings, dinners, and special events that reflect the gallery\'s thoughtful and welcoming program.Help cultivate an engaging atmosphere for artists, collectors, curators, and visitors.QualificationsWe are seeking someone with prior gallery experience who is both operationally rigorous and genuinely passionate about contemporary art. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
