Artist studio seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Studio Assistant: Ceramics for ongoing project(s). In this role, the ideal candidate will play a crucial part in assisting a Ceramics Lead and maintaining the daily operations, cleanliness, and safety of our ceramic studio. The ideal candidate has a foundational knowledge of ceramics processes (clay preparation, glazing, and kiln loading) and thrives in a creative, hands-on environment.Key ResponsibilitiesStudio Maintenance & Safety: Maintain overall cleanliness of the studio, including mopping floors to minimize clay dust, wiping down surfaces, washing tools, and organizing communal spaces.Assist in mixing standard studio glazes, maintaining glaze inventory, and keeping the glaze area tidy and safe.Help with glazing, tile making and ceramic hand-building projectsCarefully load and unload electric (and/or gas) kilns for bisque and glaze firings. Wash and grind kiln shelves as needed.Track studio supplies and alert management when stock is low. Qualifications & SkillsMinimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a ceramic studio setting (academic or commercial).Solid understanding of the ceramic process, including clay stages (leather-hard, bone-dry), glaze application, and kiln furniture.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (bags of clay, buckets of glaze, kiln shelves) and stand for extended periods.Highly organized with a strong awareness of studio safety guidelines (handling hazardous raw materials, dust mitigation, etc.).Excellent interpersonal skills with a helpful, friendly attitude toward studio members
