Our 300 members distribute over $1.2 million in awards annually; fund concerts and new works of musical theater; purchase and commission contemporary art for donation to museums across the country; and present exhibitions, talks, and events for the public at our historic buildings in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. Position SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Curatorial Assistant to support the diverse initiatives of our curatorial department. This position offers hands-on experience in exhibition development, research, and digital engagement within a dynamic cultural institution. Key ResponsibilitiesSupports curators and artists in the realization of exhibitions and public programs, including researching installation requirements, fabrication needs, and sourcing exhibition componentsManages projects by tracking deliverables and developing checklists for upcoming exhibitionsMaintains exhibition files and database entries; drafts, processes, and maintains loan agreements; assists with lender correspondenceCoordinates travel, accommodations, and payments for invited artists and participantsProvides on-site support for curatorial events, including exhibition openings and talksProcesses and files exhibition and press images and captionsMaintains archive of exhibition- and program-related press using InDesign QualificationsThe ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational abilities, experience with managing and prioritizing tasks within complex projects, excellent written communication skills, and enthusiasm for contemporary art and artists. This is an excellent opportunity for current or recently graduated M.A. students in Art History and Curatorial Studies to gain professional experience in a non-profit setting.
