This role involves managing the studio’s artwork database, and maintaining accuracy in accordance with studio guidelines. Key responsibilities include coordinating local, domestic, and international shipping of artwork. Overseeing the entire shipping process from cataloguing, packing, to collection, transport, and installation. Additionally the Registrar oversees archive and storage operations and creates artwork checklists, consignment and loan agreements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Studio Database Create and update entries in Artlogic, following studio guide for artwork captions Create consignment and loan agreementsCreate and manage artwork checklists and reports Shipping, Packing, and Handling Coordinate all local, domestic, and international shipments Provide detailed packing instructions and manage condition reports for all outgoing artworksArchive and Storage Oversee studio archive and storage, to maintain organization Oversee offsite storage facilityAudit storage in gallery partner facilitiesInternal and External Liaison Collaborate with studio’s Fabrication Department to ensure correct artwork cataloguing and and timely production and shippingLiaise with external vendors (art handlers, installers, photographers, and shipping companies) REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEMinimum five (5) years of experience working in a registrar role at an artist studio, art gallery or in logistics at a fine art shipping companyPrior working relationships with fine art shipping companies Knowledge of various artwork and fabrication materials and methods, as well as best practices in art handling and packing Experience with Mac-based environment and Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs) Highly detail-oriented with exceptional communication and organizational skills Team player, successful working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
