Job DescriptionPart Time Registrar & Operations Specialist POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BKCM) seeks a part time Registrar & Operations Specialist to join our Registration & Operations team. Registrars/Operations Specialists are front of house at BKCM’s home location at 58 7th Avenue and are the primary staff liaisons with onsite students/clients. The position requires exemplary customer service, multi-tasking and verbal, interpersonal, and emotional communication skills. The ideal candidate is friendly, patient, can easily adapt to different kinds of people/customers, learn new registration/reservation systems, and is comfortable with technology. Candidates should have excellent people skills and thrive at problem solving. Registrar is a forward-facing position, ensuring that all students, families, and faculty receive the highest level of customer service, in addition to handling key backend maintenance of BKCM’s registration and room reservation systems. The Registrar position provides hands-on experience in the operations of a busy community music school, and potential opportunities to assist in other areas within BKCM. This is first and foremost a forward-facing position: candidates should be warm, engaging, attentive, and present and should have experience with and be comfortable interacting with children, have good problem solving capacity, and high interpersonal/emotional intelligence. This is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Administration with a $27-31/hour starting salary range. Part time employees are eligible for benefits through BKCM including paid time off and holidays; and participation in BKCM’s 403(b) retirement plan.Please note, this is an in person position and cannot be done remotely.JOB SPECIFICATIONSBKCM is hiring 1 part time Registrar for these specific shifts. Schedules may be modified over the summer and future semesters with potential opportunity to increase hours. Candidates must be available for these specified shifts to be considered:Required Fall/Spring hours for this position are:Sunday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM Monday: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM RESPONSIBILITIESRegistrationCommunicate program offerings to current and prospective studentsProcess and take payments for student registrations and schedule lessonsEnforce BKCM policies and resolve student and faculty issuesLiaise with BKCM faculty and Program Directors regarding students and programsPrepare daily payment reportsRegistration system set up and maintenanceSet up and maintain all course offerings and student schedules for onsite divisions including the Community Music School, Suzuki, and Music Therapy in BKCM’s registration softwareManage and troubleshoot back end of registration softwareMaintain and ensure accuracy of student recordsPrepare enrollment, tuition and student reportsOffice managementGeneral reception duties including answering and screening phone calls, distributing mail, and fielding inquiriesFacilitiesUpdate and manage weekly and daily room schedules including rentals, classes and studio equipmentMonitor daily rentals of rehearsal spacesBuilding opening and closing as scheduledAssist with facility maintenance and ordering supplies as neededSpecial eventsAssist with BKCM’s signature fundraising events as well as various individual and community building events.Other duties and special projects as assigned.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SCHOOLSBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferredExcellent administrative, organizational and customer service skillsOutstanding attention to detail, demonstrated ability to multi-taskExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPositive and friendly demeanor, “roll up your sleeves” hands on attitudeDemonstrated application of strong emotional/interpersonal intelligenceDemonstrated ability to handle discreet information including, but not limited to student financial, contact, pedagogical information, and medical diagnoses.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as Google DriveExperience with ASAP or other registration systems a strong plusExperience with Nexudus or other room rental registration systems a strong plusPassion for music and/or arts education a plusExperience working with disability communities a plusAbility to lift up to 40 lbs a plusFluency in Spanish a plus To apply, please submit resume and cover letter with the subject line “Registrar & Operations Specialist” addressed to Director of Administration, Michaela Mechlovitz at hiring@bkcm.org by February 20th, 2026.
