The Accounting Associate must be able to commute to The Gotham’s Brooklyn office with some flexibility for hybrid work.Compensation: The Accounting Associate is a full-time exempt position. The Gotham offers a competitive benefit selection, PTO, sick and holiday time. The salary range for this position is $72,000 - 79,000Responsibilities: Process weekly payroll run and maintain required payroll recordsAssist with accounts payable and receivable including new vendor/customer setup, entering bills and coding invoicesReview and process employee expense reportsAssist with management of Fiscal Sponsorship donations, fund disbursements and communication with donors and filmmakersServe as a point of contact for internal accounting inquiries from departments across the organizationPlay an integral role in accounting policy and procedure creationAssist with monthly, quarterly and annual close procedures including monthly bank reconciliationsProcess all payment inquiries and refundsAssist in annual finance audit preparation and schedule creationAssist with the compilation and distribution of yearly 1099s to all independent contractorsAssist the Controller with other operations and general office tasks on an as needed basisServe as a liaison to outside accounting services to facilitate month end close and other items as assignedQualifications:2+ years of experience in accounting roles such as Accounting Assistant, Accounting Coordinator or similarStrong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently, manage own work and time, and take responsibility for performanceUndergraduate degree in a business-related field such as, accounting, business management, or administration desired but not requiredProficiency with Quickbook Online, Bill.com, Excel and similar softwareStrong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP or US GAAP) and an understanding of nonprofit accounting rules & regulations
