Studio Assistant - Part-time The Studio Assistant supports the day-to-day hands on functioning of the artist’s studio, ensuring an efficient, organized, and well-run physical studio environment that enables the artist to focus on creative work. This role blends hands-on fabrication and facilities support and requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual who is comfortable in a multi-disciplinary creative setting. Mainly, you would be working directly with the artist in metal fabrication, painting, ceramics, wood working, and paper work while maintaining an aspect of the physical upkeep. Art handling and packing also applies.Studio Operations & OrganizationMaintain a clean, orderly, and safe studio environment.Manage inventory of materials, tools, and supplies; coordinate restocking.Organize artworks, components, packing materials, and storage systems.Support installation, deinstallation, and general studio upkeep.Artwork Production SupportAssist with fabrication tasks as directed by the artist - from painting, ceramics, wood, metal and paper.Document production progress, record dimensions, materials, and process notes.Help prepare works for photography, shipping, and exhibition.Studio Workflow & Project ManagementAssist in planning, prioritizing, and sequencing studio tasks.Communicate clearly with the Studio Director about daily progress, needs, and issues.Prepare artwork for client visits and studio viewings.Assist with packaging, condition reporting, and artwork handling.QualificationsExperience working in an artist’s studio, gallery, or creative production environment is preferred.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once.Comfort with hands-on fabrication and willingness to learn new techniques.Ability to lift and move materials and artworks (up to ~40 lbs).Proficient with basic digital tools (Google Workspace, spreadsheets, simple inventory systems).Detail-oriented, reliable, and self-directed.Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.PreferredExperience with sculpture, metal working, ceramics, or fabrication processes.Familiarity with art-handling standards.Photo documentation skills.Interest in contemporary art and long-term growth within a studio environment.Art degree The studio is a friendly work environment with oversight by the artist and studio director.
