The Hispanic Society Museum & Library seeks a Curatorial Research Fellow beginning September/October 2026. The Fellow will be part of a team researching and cataloguing the Hispanic Society’s renowned collection of Goya prints, paintings, and related documents. This position will be appointed from September/October2026 for one year. The fellowship is full-time and requires onsite work 4 days per week. The Fellow will assist in the operation of the Goya Research Center at the Hispanic Society. The Fellow’s work will further the Center’s objectives by preserving, promoting, and fostering research into the work of iconic Spanish artist Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (1746-1828). Reporting to the Head of Prints and Photographs, the Fellow will assist with cataloguing the Goya collection, conducting research, data entry, and performing some administrative and clerical duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong interest in working with museum collections. By establishing the Research Center and fostering collaborations with other institutions, the HSM&L aims to inspire a new generation of Goya scholars in the United States and encourage further Goya initiatives as his bicentennial approaches. ResponsibilitiesConduct scholarly research on Goya, including analyzing in-house works as well as across NY based collections.Organize checklists, databases, and files.Assist with technical analysis.Schedule and prepare materials and presentations for meetings.Correspond with external contacts and working closely with Head of Prints & Photographs, Collections Management and Conservation, among other departments.Support drafting of research findings for publication.Coordinate and oversee the logistical organization of the symposium.Provide daily administrative support.Job RequirementsMA or Ph.D. Students in Art History, History, Spanish, Hispanic Studies, Museum Anthropology, Museum Studies, or related fields.Spanish language professional proficiency.Museum/gallery experience a plus.Strong research, writing, and communication skills.Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.Collaborative spirit. Technology SkillsMicrosoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.TMS and / or Archipelago a plus.
