SUMMARYAn auction house with multiple offices throughout the US is looking for a Photography Specialist to join their growing team. This is a client-facing, leadership position and requires prior auction experience along with generalist knowledge of the history of photography and photographs. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of managing consignor relations throughout the auction cycle, as well as for developing new clients for both the buying and selling side of the business. They will also be a passionate and hard-working individual with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities, collaboration and organization to meet deadlines.RESPONSIBILITIESConsignment Team Responsibilities• Develop new clients while maintaining existing client relationships and executing client outreach, for both the buying and selling side of the business• Work with the specialists and business development teams to specifically build the category and auction program for Photographs across the Rago/Wright brands• Manage consignments and the consignor relationship throughout the consignment process• Work with a team of specialists to field, price and negotiate consignment inquiries• Answer auction related inquiries; create and distribute auction related materials, including condition reports, and targeted selling outreach• Address and answer select inquiries as directed from the consignment team or received in the consignment inbox• Enter all inventory to proprietary database, and work with sellers to complete descriptions and provenance details as well as potential additional content on any given item or groups of items consigned• Support the Consignment Team on larger consignments and proposals as needed• Share knowledge and expertise as a member of the fine art teamClient Service Responsibilities• Customer service in a wide range of areas, including general and auction related inquiries via phone, email and client visits• Conduct local area consignment visits• Assist with auction day responsibilities as needed• Assist with pre-auction exhibition staffing, depending on location, and speaking to the clients about property either in person, or remotely Research Responsibilities• Review property delivered for cataloguing and condition report accuracy prior to publication• Work with other internal teams, including research, cataloguing, and marketing to produce content, scholarship and expand marketing possibilitiesREQUIREMENTS• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree• Prior auction experience• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines• Excellent negotiation, communication and organizational skills
