The Curatorial Associate reports to the Acting Executive Director & Chief Curator and willbe a key member of the team working to implement and expand Print Center New York’scuratorial program. Working closely with internal staff and external collaborators, includingguest curators, they will be responsible for implementing three exhibitions per year, alongwith related public programs and publications. They will contribute to long-term curatorialplanning and strategic initiatives aligned with institutional goals.Our ideal candidate has a strong track record in successfully delivering curatorial projects inthe context of a small, collaborative team. They will demonstrate: engagement withcontemporary art, art history, and curatorial practice; skills in public speaking, writing, andresearch; the ability to juggle concurrent projects and meet deadlines; and a record ofcultivating relationships in art and cultural communities. The position is part time, threedays (24 hours) a week, with the potential to transition to full time. Target start date is inSeptember 2026.Key Responsibilities:Exhibitions & Publications:● Work with Print Center New York’s leadership team in aligning curatorial strategywith institutional goals● In close collaboration with an internal exhibitions team and with guest curators,shepherd curatorial projects from their proposal stage through research andproduction● Maintain up-to-date curatorial rationales and checklists, draft loan requests, andassist with borrowing negotiations● Work collaboratively to develop exhibition layouts, critically evaluate and editinterpretive materials, and improve in-gallery visitor experience● Work collaboratively to develop installation plans, editorial workflows, and budgets● Manage editorial content for publications, critically evaluating and editing texts toensure material is rigorous, clear, and persuasive● Assist with press releases, grant narratives, and other written content, as neededPublic Engagement:● Research, generate, and participate in public programming in a variety of formats(tours, conversations, performances, digital content, etc.) to extend engagement withexhibitions on view● Lead exhibition tours and communicate ideas and processes in a way thataccommodates a variety of audience needs and backgrounds; lead staff training tours● Visit galleries, museums, printshops, and artists’ studios to represent Print CenterNew York and to maintain current knowledge of the print and contemporary art fieldand current museum/curatorial practiceQualifications:● Three to five years of gallery, museum, or nonprofit curatorial experience● MA or equivalent preferred in art history, curatorial practice, or related are;specialization in printmaking highly desirable● Demonstrated dexterity managing projects, with the ability to adapt and produceresults on multiple projects with shifting priorities● Excellent communication skills and a talent for connecting with a range ofcollaborators, audiences, and stakeholders● Demonstrated creative and strategic thinking, with an ability to connect our work tobroader artistic and cultural conversations, tendencies, and histories● Strong writing and editing skills● Ability to work Saturdays and occasional weekday eveningsCompensation: $33–36/hour or $41,184–44,928 annual.
