Reservationist (Full Time)Position SummaryThe Century Association is a private members club for authors, artists, and amateurs of letters and fine arts. The Club has been a central fixture of New York’s cultural landscape since its founding in 1847 and incorporation in 1857, with “the purpose of promoting the advancement of art and literature.” Alongside dining and private banquets, the Century’s membership host lectures, concerts, dramatic productions and art exhibitions.The Reservationist serves as the first point of contact for members and guests of the Club, providing exceptional customer service while managing reservations and member inquiries. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with members while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism.Position DetailsJob Title: ReservationistEmployment Type: Full-TimeSchedule: Monday through Friday (or as assigned)Hours: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PMMeal Break: 30-minute unpaid meal breakWeekly Hours: 40 hours per weekEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate member reservations for dining, events, and club amenities.Answer telephone calls, emails, and online inquiries in a professional and timely manner.Provide members and guests with accurate information regarding club services, events, policies, and availability.Maintain reservation records and update member information in the club management system.Assist members with special requests and ensure a high level of personalized service.Coordinate with Food & Beverage, Events, and other club departments to ensure seamless member experiences.Monitor reservation trends and communicate capacity concerns to management.Handle member concerns, inquiries, and service recovery situations professionally.Support club marketing initiatives through digital communication and social media engagement as assigned.Generate reports and maintain reservation-related data using Microsoft Excel.Assist with the guest and member check-in process during in-house club events, ensuring a welcoming, efficient, and professional arrival experience.Perform additional administrative and customer service duties as assigned.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Hotel Administration, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; or Bachelor’s degree with demonstratable experience in customer relations.Experience1–2 years of experience in customer relations, guest services, hospitality, reservations, or a related customer-facing role.Experience in a private club, hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment is preferred.Skills and CompetenciesExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.Proficient with internet-based applications and online reservation systems.Knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and basic reporting.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Professional appearance and demeanor.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.Ability to occasionally lift to 15 pounds.Work EnvironmentThis position is performed primarily in an office environment within a private membership club and requires regular interaction with members, guests, and club staff.
