About 92NY School Engagement in the ArtsSchool Engagement in the Arts (SEA) at 92NY partners with New York City public schools to provide high-quality arts education programs that connect students with professional artists, sequential arts learning, and live performances.SEA’s programs include Discover Dance, Discover Music, Discover Musical Theater, Discover Together, and Broadway Spotlight and serve thousands of students annually across New York City through in-school residencies, workshops, performances, and special initiatives.Consulting Opportunity92NY School Engagement in the Arts seeks an experienced Arts Education Program Evaluation Consultant to support the evaluation of selected SEA programs.The consultant will review SEA curriculum materials and program goals, conduct classroom observations in New York City public schools, provide observation-based feedback to teaching artists, and help SEA identify program strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement.The consultant will review program evaluation materials, including surveys and feedback forms, and prepare written findings to improve program planning, curriculum refinement, and reporting to funders.This is a part-time independent contractor engagement with a defined scope of work and deliverables.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe consultant will:Review SEA curriculum materials and program goals.Conduct classroom observations of SEA teaching artists in New York City public school classrooms assessing:Curriculum implementationStudent engagementClassroom cultureInstructional practiceProvide observation-based feedback to teaching artists following observations, including limited coaching when included in the agreed-upon scope of work.Identify program strengths, challenges, and trends across classrooms and programs.Support the distribution, collection, and review of program evaluation tools, including surveys or questionnaires.Prepare written summaries that synthesize observations, evaluation responses, program successes, areas for improvement, and recommendations.Present findings and recommendations with SEA leadership to support program planning, curriculum refinement, and funders reporting. Required QualificationsSignificant experience as a teaching artist or school-based arts educator leading arts instruction in New York City public schools.Experience observing arts instruction and providing constructive feedback to teaching artists or educators.Experience assessing curriculum implementation, student engagement, classroom culture, and instructional practice.Experience supporting program evaluation, including reviewing feedback, identifying trends, and contributing to written reports.Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience preparing funder-facing reports or evaluation summaries for arts, education, or nonprofit programs.Experience coaching, mentoring, or providing professional support to teaching artists.Familiarity with inclusive instructional practices and supporting diverse learners.Experience in dance, music, theater, or multidisciplinary arts education.Engagement Detail Independent ContractorPart-time consulting engagementApproximately October through MayClassroom observations will take place in New York City public schools, with schedules coordinated in advance based on program needs and school availability.Engagement includes classroom observations, preparation, educator feedback, evaluation support, selected meetings, and written reporting, as defined in the final scope of work.This engagement will support the following SEA programs: Discover DanceDiscover MusicBroadway SpotlightCompensationTotal consulting fee not to exceed $30,000, based on final scope of work, number of observations, and reporting requirements.
