DC Moore Gallery seeks an experienced and personable Associate Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years previous experience working in a contemporary art gallery in sales, exhibition planning and artist liaising. This role is a great opportunity for a motivated individual looking to take on meaningful responsibility, eager to learn, and grow in this role.The Associate Director will work closely with the Directors to develop programming, sales strategies, and client relationships. As a public facing role, this position requires excellent client service and polished communication skills.Responsibilities will include:Assist in planning of exhibitions, art fairs, and programming, including liaising with artists, coordinating openings and other gallery eventsGenerate sales to private collectors and institutions, cultivating and maintaining these relationships through exceptional client service and regular follow-upPresent artwork professionally and confidently, communicating artistic concepts, provenance and pricing accuratelyOversee preparations of sales materials, checklists, Artlogic inventory for exhibitions and art fairsRepresent the gallery at art fairs, meeting with clients and making real-time sales decisions, and completing art-fair follow-up correspondenceMaintaining accurate and meticulous client records and sales activity in ArtlogicWork collaboratively with the gallery’s artists and estates to support artist objectives, including inventory intake, exhibition planning, contracts, publications, commissions, and other major projectsSupport writing projects, such as press releases, write-ups, and other gallery communicationsConduct secondary market and valuation research to support clients and gallery in secondary market consignmentsManage the preparation and maintenance of artist fact sheets, artwork descriptions, provenance, in collaboration with the RegistrarManage post-sale communications and logistics with RegistrarExperience/Skills required:BA or Master’s Degree in Art History or related field5+ years of gallery experience, with a strong understanding of the contemporary art marketExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCreative thinker with a positive attitude and approachable demeanorExisting relationships with collectors, advisors and/or institutional contactsAbility to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and set/manage timelinesDemonstrate discretion, professionalism, and poise when interfacing with clientsExperience working art fairsSecondary market sales and appraisal certification is a plusFamiliarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office. Artlogic, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop a plus.Position hours are Tuesday – Saturday, from 10 AM to 6 PM, with additional hours necessary on an as-needed basis. Salary commensurate with experience.
