Olney Gleason is seeking motivated individuals for Fall 2026 who are looking to start or advance their career in a Chelsea gallery. We are currently hiring on-site interns for up to 40 hours per work. Part-time applicants must be available to work a minimum of three days per week.Our intern team is an integral part of the gallery\'s daily operations. Interns primarily provide front desk coverage, serving as the first point of contact for visitors while helping ensure the gallery runs smoothly each day. As interns become familiar with gallery operations, they also have opportunities to assist the Sales, Operations, Research, Communications, and Registrar teams with a variety of projects and administrative initiatives.Successful applicants are highly organized, proactive, adaptable, amiable, professional, and able to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.This internship offers hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a contemporary art gallery, providing exposure to gallery administration, sales support, exhibition preparation, client relations, collections management, and registrar practices. Interns can gain meaningful experience across departments while developing a strong foundation for careers in commercial galleries, museums, auction houses, arts administration, and the broader art market.Primary ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Providing front desk coverage and serving as the first point of contact for gallery visitorsGreeting visitors and answering questions about current exhibitions and gallery programmingMaintaining the presentation and organization of gallery and office spacesManaging incoming phone calls and directing inquiries with discretionUpdating and maintaining client records in ArtLogic CRMCoordinating mailings, shipments, and other gallery logisticsSupporting exhibition openings, artist talks, previews, and special eventsAdditional ResponsibilitiesDepending on gallery needs, interns may have opportunities to receive training in:Contemporary gallery operationsFront-of-house best practicesSales support proceduresArtLogic database managementPreparing press materials, exhibition checklists, and visitor resourcesMaintaining curriculum vitae, press clippings, artist and exhibition recordsAssisting with publication sales and book ordersAssisting the Gallery Assistant with general office management and daily operationsProviding sales and administrative support across departmentsQualifications & SkillsCurrently pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in art history, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Fine Arts, or a related fieldDemonstrated interest in contemporary art and the commercial art worldExceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detailProfessional, personable, and comfortable interacting with visitors, clients, and colleaguesAbility to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and Google WorkspaceFamiliarity with Adobe Suite and/or ArtLogic is a plus, but not requiredSelf-motivated, eager to learn, and proactive in taking initiativeScheduleInterns typically work the following schedules:Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PMAdditional hours may be requested during exhibition openings, art fairs, and special events.
