This is a dynamic, detail-oriented role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced art world environment and enjoys wearing many hats from front-of-house operations to exhibition support to executive assistance.The Gallery Assistant will play a central role in the day-to-day rhythm of the gallery, helping ensure that exhibitions, events, art fairs, and daily operations run smoothly. This role reports to Hollis Taggart and the Sales Assistant.Front of House & Gallery OperationsMaintain and update contact records, including categories, interests, photos, addresses, and notesProcess credit card transactions, confirming purchase details and invoice accuracyOrder supplies for openings and special eventsPrepare and send fact sheets, image sheets, and checklists to dealers and collectorsManage petty cash and ensure proper reconciliationCoordinate regular cleaning servicesResearch and format artist CVs in coordination with artists, estates, and literature sourcesSupport the hiring, training, and supervision of gallery internsMaintain artwork exhibition history, literature records, and location trackingExecutive Support to Hollis TaggartProvide daily communication and scheduling support, keeping Hollis Taggart informed of priorities and commitmentsManage and maintain Hollis Taggart’s daily calendarCoordinate and distribute staff-wide communications on his behalfBook domestic and international travel arrangementsServe as a trusted, professional point of contact supporting Hollis Taggart’s interactions with clients and external partiesProcess invoices on behalf of Hollis Taggart and to external parties, when necessaryArt FairsPrepare fair binders with fact sheets, condition reports, CVs, and press materialsOrganize and coordinate art fair supply boxes and materialsExhibitionsCreate and publish exhibition listings across multiple online platforms including images, press releases, and exhibition detailsOrder supplies for exhibition openings and eventsSupport gallery clean-up and close-out following openingsUpdate outgoing voicemail messages with current exhibition detailsMaintain stock of price lists, press releases, catalogs, and invitationsProcess catalog sales via cash or credit cardSocial Media & Community EngagementSupport the development of monthly social media content calendars, posting approved content onto our social media platforms, managing responses, engaging with art world professionals, artists and forwarding direct communications to appropriate team members in a timely mannerCollaborate on the timely and appropriate rollout of gallery announcementsEngage with the broader art community across social platformsProvide press-related support as neededAdditional ResponsibilitiesMaintain exhibition spreadsheets and support the auction estimate processAssist with refining consignment agreement templates and processes within ArtLogicHelp organize and streamline client lists in ArtLogic to support sales team outreachRequirementsStrong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentComfort working closely with senior leadership in a trusted, discreet capacityInterest in or familiarity with the post-war and contemporary art world is a plusProficiency with Google Workspace; familiarity with ArtLogic a plusOur chosen candidate will be the utmost professional — self-motivated, goal-driven, and emotionally intelligent, with a sense of humor, empathy, and a grounded, down-to-earth presence.Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, in-person position based in the New York gallery. Tuesday through Saturday, 11am-5pm work schedule with additional hours, as needed, for gallery receptions and events. The New York gallery switches to a Monday through Friday 11am-5pm work schedule during the summer months.
