This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in contemporary art, archives, photography, publishing, and gallery operations. The position combines archival management, artwork documentation, digital content creation, marketing support, visitor engagement, and administrative responsibilities within a fast-paced gallery environment.The successful candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. A strong eye for photography and image editing is essential, as the Archivist will play a key role in documenting exhibitions and artworks for archival records, publications, the gallery website, and social media.Typical hours are Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, with occasional evening hours required for exhibition openings and special events.Key ResponsibilitiesArchives & Inventory ManagementMaintain and update gallery inventory databases for artworks, publications, and archival materialsCatalog artworks, exhibitions, publications, and related documentationOrganize and maintain both digital and physical archivesProfessionally photograph artworks, exhibitions, and archival materials, ensuring accurate color and high-quality documentationEdit and prepare images for archival records, publications, the gallery website, online viewing rooms, and social mediaAssist in developing and maintaining organized digital asset librariesDigital Content & MarketingPrepare and distribute email marketing campaignsSubmit exhibitions and events to relevant online calendars and publicationsUpdate and maintain gallery profiles across platforms including Artsy, Artforum, and SeesawMaintain website content, including exhibition pages, artist profiles, and online viewing roomsVisitor Experience & Gallery OperationsOccasional front desk support; Answer phone calls, welcome visitors and provide information about exhibitions and gallery programmingAssist with exhibition openings, events, and special projectsProvide administrative support and assist with day-to-day gallery operations as neededQualificationsBachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience in Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Photography, or a related field preferredExceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detailDemonstrated experience photographing artworks and exhibitions, with an understanding of color accuracy and archival documentation standardsStrong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, including image editing and color correctionExperience with database management and digital archiving systemsFamiliarity with website content management systems and email marketing platformsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small teamA genuine interest in contemporary art and gallery operationsCompensationCompensation is commensurate with experience.
