Garth Greenan Gallery is seeking a full-time photographer for our gallery. The ideal candidate for this position will be highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and professional. Candidates must have strong skills as a photographer and image editor, with a preference for those who have experience photographing works of art and exhibitions for a fine art gallery (or similar organization).Key Responsibilities:Photograph all artworks, gallery exhibitions, and local art fairsMaintain, handle, and set up photography and lighting equipment for shootsAssist with installation of artworks for photographyEdit images to gallery standards, as well as re-edit pre-existing photographs as neededMaintain image records on database and server, promptly updating with new photography and maintaining high level of organizationManage gallery inventory system, entering new inventory into ArtLogic, and regularly auditing existing inventory records to ensure accuracyOversee inventory and upkeep of photography equipment, ensuring all tools are in good condition and upgraded as neededWork closely with gallery registrar and art-handers to develop schedule for photography shoots, balancing high-priority requests with long-term projectsProperly pack and repack artworks after photographing and updating locations in databaseFulfill incoming image requests and inquiries as needed alongside other gallery staffPrepare presentation documents using InDesignQualifications:Bachelor\'s degree in photography, art, arts administration, or related field3–5 years experience in a gallery, auction house, photo studio, or similar setting, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous workProven experience as a working photographer, with preference for candidates experienced in installation and object photography for a gallery, museum, auction house, art fair, or similarAdditional experience with art handling and packingHigh proficiency in photo-editing software and photography equipment Proficient in Microsoft Office; Photoshop, InDesign, and other Adobe products; Google Workspace; and ArtLogicManages time efficiently and is confident working on multiple projects at onceHighly self-motivated, organized, responsible, and has a high attention to detailComfortable in a fast-paced environment and works well under pressure, both independently and as part of a teamPossession of camera and photography equipment a plus, but not requiredAbout the gallery:Garth Greenan Gallery is committed to mounting important exhibitions and maintaining a high standard of integrity and connoisseurship.
