The Department of Social Work at SUNY Brockport invites applications for a temporary, full-time Lecturer position in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. We seek a skilled and passionate educator with expertise in generalist social work practice at the micro, mezzo and macro levels, including case management, policy, diversity, human behavior, and the social environment, with a focus on practice-to-research and research-to-practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy, equity, and preparing undergraduate students for ethical, competent entry-level social work practice. This is a one-year appointment beginning in August 2026.
Essential Functions:Teaching (70%)
- Teaches four undergraduate social work courses per semester.
- Teaches face-to-face classes.
- Updates course syllabi in alignment with course leader, Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies and department goals.
- Collaborates with colleagues on curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation-related activities.
- Contributes to a learning environment grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
Service (30%)
- Participates actively in departmental meetings, university service, and student-focused programming.
- Advises and mentors BSW students, including those preparing for practicum placement.
Minimum Qualifications:- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or from an internationally recognized college or university
- Minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience, particularly in generalist, case management, or macro settings
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and social work education
- Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards and the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS)
- Evidence of culturally responsive practice and inclusive teaching strategies
Preferred Qualifications:- Prior college-level teaching experience, particularly in social work or related disciplines
- Experience in community-based practice, policy advocacy, or systems-level change
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care, harm reduction, or strengths-based case management
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students
