This is a hands-on fabrication role with occasional administrative and digital tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is a maker, builder, or working artist who possesses a high level of craftsmanship, spatial intelligence, and a meticulous eye for finish quality.You will work closely with the artist on complex multi-material projects, translating structural ideas into flawless physical forms.Key ResponsibilitiesPhysical Fabrication: Assist in the construction, assembly, and finishing of structural and kinetic artworks using a variety of materials.Tool Operation: Safely and accurately operate a range of workshop equipment, including precision hand tools, wood chisels, files, and standard shop power tools.Surface Preparation & Finishing: Execute high-end finishing tasks, which may include sanding, adhesive application, and preparing surfaces for advanced coatings.Studio Operations: Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shop environment; assist with material handling, inventory tracking, and prepping works for transport.Qualifications & SkillsStrong Craftsmanship: Demonstrated experience in a fabrication shop, sculpture studio, fine woodworking, or high-end art handling environment.Tool Proficiency: Deep comfort level with precision hand tools and a solid foundation in shop safety.Material Awareness: Experience handling delicate or high-performance materials (wood, metals, plastics, or specialty adhesives) with extreme care.Detail-Oriented: A patient, methodical approach to tasks where a fraction of a millimeter matters.Reliability: Punctual, organized, and physically able to handle the manual demands of a working sculpture studio.How to ApplyPlease email your resume and a brief introductory note outlining your fabrication background to dan@danielwurtzel.com.Crucial: Please include a PDF or a link to 3–5 images showing physical objects you have built, fabricated, or finished.
