Studio ManagerDoug Aitken WorkshopVenice Beach, Los Angeles, CAFull-time, On-siteDoug Aitken Workshop, an internationally acclaimed art and multimedia studio, is seeking a Studio Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the studio and support production, exhibitions, and archiving. The studio is a creative hub that works in many mediums.This role sits at the center of the studio’s activity, working closely with the artist, studio leadership, internal team members, fabricators, galleries, museums, and external partners. The ideal candidate is proactive, calm under pressure, deeply organized, and comfortable managing many moving parts at once.Key ResponsibilitiesArtist Support & Administrative CoordinationProvide day-to-day administrative and organizational support to the artist & studioManage calendars, scheduling, meetings, and remindersCoordinate travel logistics, including flights, accommodations, and itinerariesTrack, and follow up on correspondence on behalf of the artist & studioOffice & Studio AdministrationOversee daily administrative operations of the studioServe as a primary point of contact for incoming inquiriesDraft and manage professional correspondence with galleries, institutions, and partnersSupport budgeting, invoicing, and expense trackingMaintain organized records, files, and documentationCoordinate with studio staff, contractors, and vendorsScheduling, Logistics & CoordinationAssist with exhibition- and project-related logistics Liaise with art service fabricators, shippers, and external partnersTrack timelines and ensure consistent follow-throughStudio & Property OversightAssist with general management of the studio including vendors, maintenance, and suppliesHelp ensure all workspaces function smoothly and professionallyArchiving, Photography & Asset CoordinationManage organized digital file systems and archivesPhotograph artworks and studio materials as needed for documentation and archival purposesEdit and process images using Photoshop, ensuring consistency and clarityAccurate labeling, metadata, and long-term organization for artworks and assetsCoordinate delivery of photography, video, and press when requiredQualifications3+ years experience in a contemporary art studio, gallery, museum, or similar administrative/support roleDemonstrated experience with archiving, documentation, and asset managementStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and schedulesHigh level of discretion, reliability, and professionalismProficiency with Google Workspace and standard office toolsProficiency with Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop for image editing and archival useLos Angeles – or West Coast–based candidates onlyAdditional NotesThis role requires flexibility, discretion, and a high degree of responsibility.
