An international electrical equipment manufacturer based out of the Chicago area is currently seeking a Business Development Manager to support their operations. The ideal candidate has 10+ years’ sales experience with electrical switchgear or other significant product experience, with a technical background in electrical engineering, and the ability to work independently to develop new sales leads.
This is a full-time and direct hire position, with the option for remote and / or hybrid work available. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan with matching (after three months), disability insurance, life insurance, and paid vacation.
Business Development Manager Responsibilities:
- Identify new business development opportunities and establish meaningful relationships with potential customers to grow product sales
- Travel and visit onsite frequently at client facilities to understand their specific needs and demonstrate company products
- Assist with order entry, manage existing accounts and provide excellent customer support throughout the sales process
- Collaborate with sales teams and clients regarding product planning and demand
- Create price quotations and negotiate with customers
- Develop and maintain a high level of understanding of low- and medium-voltage switchgear products (including circuit breakers, transformers, relays), their functions, and alternatives
- Answer questions and requests for information regarding product details, issues, solutions, etc.
- Achieve sales goals and revenue targets with minimal supervision
- Generate monthly sales reports and presentations on a project basis
- Other duties as assigned
Business Development Manager Requirements:
- Degree or certification in Business or Electrical Engineering preferred, OR equivalent work experience
- Minimum 10 years’ business development and sales experience with power distribution or energy storage equipment
- Computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft suite (Office, Excel, Outlook)
- Maintain flexibility and a problem-solving mindset in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel around the US (up to 50%). International travel may also be occasionally required.
- Good communication and collaboration ability in a multicultural environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and good organizational skills while working independently
- Korean language ability and / or familiarity with Korean business culture is a plus
