Duties
- Lead and manage the entire service department, including technicians, service advisors, and support staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Oversee vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance services such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, alignments, suspension work, tire services, shocks & struts, diesel engine repairs, air brake systems, and auto body repairs.
- Develop and implement effective service processes to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Drive sales through upselling additional services and vehicle accessories while maintaining integrity and transparency with customers.
- Ensure accurate auto estimating and service writing to provide clear communication of repair needs and costs.
- Manage customer relationships by providing exceptional service experiences, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring repeat business.
- Monitor parts inventory levels and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely availability of parts for repairs.
- Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining proper documentation.
- Promote a safety-first environment by enforcing safety protocols across the shop floor.
- Train and mentor team members on technical skills such as automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, transmissions, oil changes, auto body repairs, alignment procedures, suspension systems, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts replacements, brake repairs, air brake systems, and other automotive repair specialties.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity metrics, customer satisfaction scores, and sales targets to continuously improve department performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dealership or automotive service management with a strong background in auto repair operations.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, vehicle maintenance procedures including oil changes and tire services.
- Hands-on experience as a service technician or mechanic is highly desirable to understand technical challenges firsthand.
- Demonstrated ability to upsell services ethically while maintaining high levels of customer trust.
- Strong understanding of auto estimating software and service writing practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Familiarity with automotive specialties such as transmissions, auto body repair, alignment procedures, suspension work, diesel engine repair, air brake systems, shocks & struts replacement is preferred.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Leadership qualities with experience training staff on technical skills like automotive diagnostics or mechanical repair techniques.
