Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dispatch Manager to lead our transportation coordination efforts. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the efficient dispatching of freight and delivery vehicles, ensuring timely and accurate delivery schedules. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily dispatch operations for freight and delivery vehicles using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Utilize GPS, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and other tracking tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve delivery efficiency.
- Manage scheduling and routing for fleet management, ensuring compliance with safety standards and delivery deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, carriers, and customers via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette at all times.
- Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and transportation management platforms to track shipments, deliveries, and related activities.
- Analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for process improvements in shipping & receiving, freight handling, and supply chain operations.
- Supervise dispatching staff by providing guidance on transportation planning, freight coordination, and customer service protocols.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate shipments and resolve any issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, incident reports, shipment logs, and compliance documentation.
- Support shipping & receiving functions by ensuring proper documentation, inventory control, and timely processing of inbound/outbound freight.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in transportation management or logistics roles with a strong understanding of dispatching processes.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine.
- Familiarity with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and route optimization software to enhance dispatch efficiency.
- Strong analysis skills to interpret logistics data for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams using multi-line phone systems.
- Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy and managing large volumes of information within AS400 or equivalent systems.
- Knowledge of freight operations including shipping & receiving procedures and fleet management practices.
- Experience working with 3PL providers or in supply chain environments is preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
