Foundation for Spirituality and the Arts (FSA) is seeking a Manager for its operations in Charleston, South Carolina. FSA is a non-profit public charity with the mission of nurturing connections between spirituality and the arts, primarily visual arts but also including performing arts, and literary and intellectual fields. FSA is dedicated to supporting artists and arts professionals working in diverse media and disciplines whose practices explore the intersection of faith, spirituality, and artistic expression. It aims to accomplish this through residencies (held for 6-weeks in the spring and fall), public programs, and engagement with arts institutions and faith-based organizations. FSA is non-partisan and ecumenical, operating independently of any religious, political, or cultural organizations.Job Description and ResponsibilitiesWe seek a dedicated individual to manage FSA’s daily operations and to perform general administrative duties for the organization. Applicants should be self-motivated problem solvers with some prior office, organizational management, or administrative experience. A background in the arts and a familiarity with faith-based organizations is preferred but not required.Duties Include— Responsibility for administrative duties for the organization as a whole, such as bill-paying, payroll facilitation, bookkeeping, insurance, and dealing with vendors. — Working closely with FSA’s artists-in-residence during the spring and fall and with other artist guests throughout the year. The Foundation Manager will be responsible for facilitating their stays and assisting them with their studios, public events, and other errands and activities. Also working with the artists to install their artworks and dismantle their studios.— Handling all logistical work relating to producing and documenting programs in Charleston or elsewhere, such as public performances, talks, workshops, studio visits, and patron events; this includes tracking expenses, securing and managing videographers, photographers and other technicians, addressing hospitality needs, negotiating with venues, and audience cultivation.— Managing relationships with local partners, particularly faith-based organizations, and arts and educational institutions; this will include scheduling meetings and site visits in the Charleston area and surrounding region.— Working with the Executive Director in the capacity of Executive Assistant, helping with fundraising and development work, including maintaining and expanding the Charleston patron circle, organizing correspondence, donor research, updating donor database (using Little Green Light), managing invitations (using Mailchimp, Paperless Post), and organizing in-person patron events. — Responsibility for maintaining, updating, and creating content for FSA’s website (using WordPress).— Light graphic design and video editing for use on website, newsletter, social media, YouTube, invitations. Qualifications• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Outstanding organizational and management skills.• Bachelor’s degree.• Some management and administrative experience or non-profit work.• Donor database-management experience with Little Green Light, Raiser’s Edge, or similar applications highly preferred.• Experience with digital marketing campaigns (particularly Mailchimp or Constant Contact).• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Google tools (Docs, Sheets, etc.) is required.• Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.• Basic knowledge of website maintenance tools (HTML, Word-press) is preferred.• Demonstrated proficiency with budgeting & procedures.• Basic knowledge of a design program: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator, Premier Pro) is a plus.• High professional standards with meticulous attention to details, capacity for and willingness to decipher through organizational contracts, documents, and procedures.• Proactive and self-directed individual who can work collaboratively with the executive director, curator, artists and other guests, as well as accomplish tasks independently.• Experience producing communication materials in editorial, public relations, or development arenas preferred.Compensation / BenefitsThis is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding qualified individual to be part of FSA’s growth as a non-profit organization. A full-time position is required. Salary of $45,000 - $50,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Vacation: 15 days paid vacation + certain national holidays; 5 personal days annually. The hired candidate will build on and use the roster of their past experiences while gaining exceptional hands-on insight in art programming and development work within the framework of international art and religious and spiritual fields. You will be working in FSA’s residency space in Charleston alongside the FSA Executive Director and Curator. Assisting with occasional evening and weekend FSA programs will be necessary.
