Junior Designer / Gallery Assistant at an established Upper East Side gallery specializing in modern and contemporary art. This is an entry-level position for a highly organized, visually minded candidate with formal training or demonstrable experience in graphic design. Previous gallery experience is preferred. Responsibilities:Design and produce artwork presentations, exhibition materials, signage, and other gallery materials; collaborating with internal and external partners.Prepare artwork dossiers, research materials, checklists, factsheets, and curatorial presentations in Adobe InDesign.Prepare and format artwork imagery for presentations, publications, website, and other digital materials.Ability to create artwork scale and in-situ install renders using Adobe Photoshop.Facilitate the production of exhibition catalogues and other publications in collaboration with external graphic designers and producers.Coordinate artwork photography, including scheduling photographers, preparing artworks, organizing final images, and color proofing.Gather, organize, and digitize archival materials, design assets, and production specs.Organize, edit, archive, and upload artwork images and related materials to the gallery database.Maintain and update artwork, artist, exhibition, and client records in the gallery database.Assist with the preparation and organization of exhibitions, openings, events, and art fairs.Provide general administrative and organizational support to gallery staff.Assist with client presentations, private sales, and other gallery projects as required.Manage the front desk to field any questions or inquiries from visitors.Support the gallery team with day-to-day requests and time-sensitive projects.Requirements:Degree or formal training in Graphic Design, Visual Communication preferred with Fine Art or Art History acceptable with demonstrable design experience.Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; Illustrator is a plus.Familiarity with Sanity CMS and Mailchimp beneficial.Demonstrable graphic design experience through internships, academic, freelance, or professional work.Previous experience in the art world is preferred.Strong interest in modern and contemporary art.Strong visual sensibility and excellent attention to detail.Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Must be comfortable working in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.Capacity to work both independently and as part of a small team.Professional demeanor, dependability, discretion, and good judgment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Willingness to take on a range of creative, research, administrative, and practical responsibilities within the gallery.Personal attributes:Collaborative, dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
