On-site, with travel to art fairs and off-site events as needed.Position OverviewWe are seeking a sales-driven Gallery Director to lead our SoHo location. This is a revenue-first role for someone who closes: a gallerist who can work the floor, build and work a collector list, and grow the book year over year — while running a location that reflects Morrison Hotel Gallery\'s standards in every detail.The Gallery Director carries a personal sales target and owns the SoHo location\'s overall number. You will lead and develop the SoHo team, steward relationships with our represented photographers and estates, and act as the gallery\'s face to collectors, partners, press, and the neighborhood.This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.Sales & Revenue Growth• Own the SoHo location\'s revenue target and carry a personal sales quota.• Actively drive sales of artworks through client cultivation, strategic outreach, and personalized engagement — on the floor, by phone, by email, and at events.• Build, segment, and consistently work a collector list; convert walk-in traffic into repeat clients rather than one-time buyers.• Develop and deepen relationships with private collectors, art buyers, interior designers, corporate accounts, and institutions.• Set individual and team sales targets, track performance against them, and report results and forecasts to leadership on a regular cadence.• Identify and leverage partnerships, placements, and events that create selling opportunities.• Guide collectors through acquisitions with authority on the work — provenance, editioning, printing, framing, and the story behind the image.Team Leadership & Development• Lead, schedule, and develop the SoHo team of associate gallerists and part-time floor staff.• Recruit, onboard, and train new team members on the collection, the archives, and the sales process.• Set clear expectations, coach to the number, and hold the team accountable to both sales performance and client experience.• Model the standard: the Director is the strongest seller on the floor.Exhibitions & Events• Plan, curate, and execute gallery shows, openings, and special events for the SoHo location.• Oversee installation, lighting, and presentation so that every exhibition meets Morrison Hotel Gallery\'s professional standards.• Program the calendar with an eye toward what will sell as well as what will show well.• Represent the gallery at art fairs, exhibitions, and off-site events, including travel as needed.Artist & Client Relations• Support represented photographers and estates by managing artwork availability, inventory, and each archive as a body of work.• Serve as a trusted advisor to collectors, guiding them through their acquisition process from first interest to installation.• Maintain the relationships that make repeat business possible — follow-up, wish lists, first looks, and genuine knowledge of what each collector is building.• Partner with artists and estates on new releases, editions, and exhibition opportunities.Gallery Operations• Oversee daily gallery operations, including opening/closing procedures, staffing coverage, inventory management, and upkeep of the exhibition space.• Ensure all sales, consignments, client transactions, and commissions are accurately tracked and reported.• Manage order workflows to the standard our clients expect to the finest detail and working with the fulfillment manager ensuring fulfillment times as short as possible. • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams on promotional strategy for upcoming shows and featured works.• Manage the location\'s vendor relationships.Qualifications• +5 years experience leading a sales team or running a gallery, showroom, or retail location.• Proven track record in fine art, photography, or luxury sales, with demonstrated success meeting and exceeding revenue targets — bring your numbers.• Strong knowledge of the photography and/or contemporary art markets; genuine fluency in music, entertainment, and pop culture photography is a significant advantage.• An existing collector network you can activate.• Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to run multiple exhibitions, partnerships, and client relationships simultaneously.• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients, artists, estates, and partners.• Detail-oriented with a keen eye for presentation and aesthetics.• Proficiency with ArtLogic, Shopify, Monday.com, CRM systems, and Microsoft/Google Suite.• Availability to work a schedule that includes weekends, openings, and evening events.E-mail is the only accepted method of application.
