As Isabel Sullivan Gallery continues to grow in Chelsea, we\'re looking for someone who wants to help build something with us: someone who genuinely loves sales, cares about people, and understands that the best client relationships are built over time.We\'re a contemporary art gallery representing a thoughtfully selected group of international artists and designers whose work and stories we deeply admire. We believe in knowing the artists behind the work, allowing us to better understand their practice and cultivate lasting relationships built on trust and respect. Our passion lies in sharing these stories with the world and placing work we love in a broad range of collections.Every day we help people find artwork they connect with, whether that means elevating a room, transforming a new home, finding something for an office, building a collection, or another purpose entirely. Our mission is simple: bring happiness — to our clients, to our artists, and to each other. We think of our team a bit like a sports team: a small group of talented people who work and play together, celebrate wins and navigate challenges together, and bring each other along as the gallery grows. We want to find someone who enjoys working with a team: passing the ball and utilizing the different strengths of their teammates. Our company is just shy of three years old, and everyone who joins our team has the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on where we\'re headed. This role is ideal for someone with a lot of energy who thrives in a startup environment.We\'re looking for someone who loves salesThis is a sales position, but we don\'t think good sales is about convincing someone to buy something they don\'t need. For us, good sales means understanding a person well enough to help them find something that feels right for them. One client might be furnishing a new home. Another might be buying art for the first time and unsure where to start. Someone else might be a collector looking for one specific piece.Your job is to guide those conversations: welcoming visitors, learning their taste, introducing them to our artists and artworks, following up thoughtfully, and helping people make decisions they feel truly excited about, from that first hello to years of an ongoing relationship.A typical day might start with catching up on recent conversations: following up with someone who mentioned they were renovating, inviting a collector to an upcoming event, or checking in on a piece someone\'s been considering. When a visitor walks in, your attention shifts naturally to them, because every client\'s experience matters to us, whoever walks through the door. If someone\'s interested, you dig deeper together, pulling extra pieces from storage, mocking up how a work would look in their space, comparing options side by side. Once they decide to buy, you guide them through the process alongside the rest of the team, from payment to shipping to installation, and afterward, you follow up to make sure everything arrived well, the installation went smoothly, and they\'re invited back for what\'s next. Some days might be slow, and while your first priority will be engaging with all visitors, there is room for you to nurture other interests and skills as well. This might include working as an artist liaison – maybe there is one artist in particular whose work you adore and you’d like to work more closely with that artist. Maybe you are great with photography, design, and social media, and would like to assist us in those areas. Maybe you are a skilled writer and would like to work on sales decks, artist bios, and interviews. Please let us know your other skills and passions! The kind of person we\'d love to findYou\'re probably someone who finds it easy to talk to people you\'ve just met, and just as comfortable letting someone browse quietly. You\'re genuinely curious about people: you remember what someone told you last time, and staying in touch comes naturally, not as a sales tactic. You understand that sales is built on trust, and you enjoy the process of getting there.Experience in art sales is a strong plus. If you\'ve worked with collectors and know what it takes to build long-term relationships in the art world, we\'d love to hear from you. But we also know great salespeople come from many backgrounds: luxury retail, interiors, design, hospitality, or any client-facing field. What matters most is that you connect easily with people, love selling, and are curious enough to keep learning.You\'re a team player, too — someone who brings their own strengths, enjoys collaborating with others, and understands that being part of a team means your decisions affect the people around you. That means communicating clearly, keeping your commitments, and caring about how your work lands on everyone else. How we workWe\'re a small, partly international team with the energy of a growing company: we move fast, try new things, and take ownership of making things happen. Alongside that, part of our team has Nordic roots, and the values that come with that matter to us: being fully committed when we\'re working, being reliable, and caring about the quality of what we create together, while also valuing flexibility and making room for a good and healthy life outside of work. Our team comes from all kinds of backgrounds: Art History, Graphic Design, Service Design, Marketing, Cognitive Science. This role is based at the gallery in New York, but part of our team lives and works with us from abroad, and over time, there may be chances to travel internationally to meet our artists. We don\'t think everyone needs the same background or the same way of working. The best ideas usually come from people who see things differently: some of us are full of ideas, strategy and creative planning, others are the natural organizers who keep everything in order, some are natural relationship-builders, others love building the systems behind the scenes. We need all of it.As a queer and woman-owned gallery, we care deeply about building a workplace where people can be themselves. We\'re not a place with many layers of hierarchy: we share ideas, ask questions, challenge each other and solve problems together. We believe in Value Based Leadership and mentoring, building a workplace where people can grow, take ownership, and feel trusted and supported. At the same time, because we\'re a small team, we expect everyone to be able to manage their own work: to be resourceful, street-smart, comfortable improvising in different situations, and to take real responsibility for their day. We give a lot of freedom, and with it, a lot of trust. And as we expand, everyone has real influence over how we work and what we build next.
