Art in the Park, Inc. (AITP) is seeking a part-time Teaching Artist to lead visual arts instruction for K–5th grade students at one of our partner charter school sites in the Bronx or Harlem. The Teaching Artist will report to AITP and work on-site at the school, delivering engaging, age-appropriate visual arts programming during the school day and/or afterschool hours, depending on the schedule option selected.Plan and lead visual arts lessons for K–5th grade students, aligned with AITP\'s youth arts programming goalsCreate a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environmentManage classroom behavior and maintain student engagement appropriate to age groupPrepare and organize art materials and supplies for each sessionTrack student attendance and participation, and report regularly to AITP leadershipCommunicate professionally with school staff, AITP staff, and families as neededFollow all school site policies and proceduresExperience teaching visual arts to children, preferably in a K–5th grade or elementary settingExperience working with youth requiredStrong classroom management and communication skillsReliable, punctual, and able to commit to the selected weekly scheduleAbility to travel to assigned partner school site (Bronx or Harlem)Background check required as a condition of employmentThree (3) professional referencesYears of teaching experience (visual arts or related instruction)Education background (relevant coursework, degree, or certification)
