Artforum is seeking an editorial assistant to provide editorial support for print and web production, and administrative support for the magazine’s co-editors. The role includes including fact-checking editorial content and conducting editorial research, and assisting co-editors with scheduling, travel planning, and other administrative responsibilities. Under the close supervision of senior editors, the editorial assistant will also contribute short-form content to both platforms. The role is based in our New York office. Employees work four days per week on site in the office and one day per week remote. Primary duties include:Fact checking editorial content for publication, including corresponding with museums and galleries to confirm details and request images on behalf of editors and art department.Researching topics of interest in consultation with senior editorial staffContributing short-form content to print and web, under the close supervision of senior editors.Uploading web posts to WordPressProviding administrative support to the co-editors, including assisting in travel and scheduling logistics.Requirements:The ideal candidate will have:Some formal training in art history Previous internships or positions in contemporary art, cultural criticism, or a related fieldExperience writing about artProficiency with standard business software programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom; if not familiar with publishing on WordPress, must be willing to learnThe position is based in our New York office, with one remote workday per week.Submission of both a cover letter and résumé is required for consideration.
