L.A. Louver, one of the longest-established contemporary art galleries on the West Coast, is seeking a dynamic Communications Associate to join our team on a part-time basis. The initial term of hire will be six months, subject to extension.Our ideal candidate will focus on promoting and contextualizing gallery activities—including pop-up exhibitions, artist projects, our history and archive, and public programming. In tandem, they will develop sales-oriented marketing campaigns, leveraging compelling storytelling to expand the gallery\'s reach.While managing our core digital footprint (social media and email campaigns), this role prioritizes persuasive writing and audience and client engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Copywriting & Editorial Content: Lead all gallery communications and editorial strategy, creating research-backed content grounded in art historical acumen and audience awareness.Social Media Management: Maintain a curated, professional social presence and manage editorial calendars focused on storytelling that drives collector engagement.Sales-Driven Campaigns: Partner with the sales team to execute targeted campaigns for individual artworks, series, and artist groups across email, social channels, and online viewing rooms.Research & Targeted Outreach: Conduct art historical research and market analysis to build high-level pitch decks, presentations, and personalized outreach materials for collectors, advisors, and institutions.Press & Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, coordinating closely with Gallery Directors.QualificationsBackground: B.A. or equivalent experience in Art History, Communications, English/Creative Writing, or a related field. Deep knowledge of and enthusiasm for contemporary art is essential.Superb Writing Skills: Exceptional written communication skills, with a proven ability to translate primary research and complex art historical concepts into clear, persuasive, and elegant storytelling for diverse audiences.Digital & Tech Capabilities:Expertise with social media platforms (primarily Instagram) and scheduling tools.Proficiency with email marketing platforms (i.e., Mailchimp) and database management tools.Image-editing capabilities (resizing, basic color correction using Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) a plusWork Style: Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines within a 3-day workweek.
