Through its robust permanent collection, progressive rotating exhibitions, community-centered events, and innovative school programming, Poster House explores what posters say about society and how graphic design continues to impact the world with an emphasis on visual literacy.Position SummaryThe Educator of Adult Initiatives and Tour Logistics (EAITL) for Poster House oversees the logistics of tours and programs for K-12 grade school groups, college groups, special needs groups, and adults-only groups. The EAITL collaborates with the Manager of Education to research and write tours and coordinate offerings for adult audiences and professional development opportunities. The EAITL will serve as the primary educator able to deliver tours to all audiences served.This position reports to the Manager of Education. The regular schedule for this role is 10am-6pm Monday-Friday with flexibility for after-hours and weekend work as needed (approximately ten weekend days per year).Primary Job ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with Director of Operations and Associate Director of Public Programs to schedule school and adult group bookingsBe the primary educator for curatorial-style tours for adult groups regularly occurring during museum open hours and after hoursPresent monthly curatorial-style tours in Spanish as well as facilitate bilingual and Spanish-language tours for school groupsBe an additional educator delivering interactive, inquiry-based tours for middle school, high school, and college groupsDevelop and run hands-on art/printmaking workshops to complement the toursSupport accessibility and family programming as neededManage both print and digital education department content including rack card, website content, and calendarAssist in the creation of Bloomberg Connects app content development including the creation of audio tours and accessible content on the platformAttend weekly staff meetings as well as other meetings as neededAssist with programmatic offerings during museum’s opening hours, including First Friday programming and occasional weekend programmingOccasionally appear in museum’s social media videos in both Spanish and EnglishAssist in the outreach and marketing of educational programs.Required QualificationsExperience coordinating logistics and/or overseeing scheduling in a museum settingExperience working in informal education, especially with adults-only and multigenerational groupsExperience leading dynamic, engaging toursSpanish language fluency and the ability to lead tours for all audiences in Spanish (please indicate fluency in other languages if applicable)Self-motivated and able to work alone and in a team environmentStrong and engaging public speaking skillsProject management experience, including time management, coordination, and organizational skillsFlexibility with schedule across all seven days per week as neededPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, Design History, Art History, or Fine Art field or equivalent experienceExperience using Asana, Airtable, Square payment system, Google Suite/Google calendar, or similar project management digital toolsExperience working in an art museumA strong interest in design historyExperience producing print and digital contentPhysical DemandsPerform desk-based computer tasks, including using a computer screen for long periods of time, typing, and making phone callsStand for 60- to 90-minutes at a time while moving about the exhibition space to give toursProject voice clearly for up to two-hours at a time, occasionally multiple times per dayAdjust or move objects up to 30 lbs in all directions Poster House currently operates with a hybrid work model with staff working both remotely and on-site. The Educator of Adult Initiatives and Tour Logistics position would be able to participate in this hybrid work model, with an expected minimum of four days per week on site depending on tour volume, while having the ability to attend department and staff meetings in person or virtually.
