The Behavioral Health, Patient Care Director (PCD) for adult, geriatric, and child Inpatient Detox services will oversee and manage all inpatient detox services in the hospital, including but not limited to outreach, patient safety, quality control, staffing, throughput, and coordinating care on a twenty-four-hour basis. A priority of this position is for the PCD to be the Chief Retention Officer for the area and utilize principles of service excellence to achieve goals on staff development, staff satisfaction and staff retention. Provides patient reviews that are coordinated to provide a seamless, integrated system of care that is high value, cost effective and customer focused. The PCD is committed to creating a work environment that fosters pride, teamwork and continuous learning and associate ability to meet patient needs. The PCD must have knowledge of specialty services and related nursing standards and be aware of the changing health care environment locally and nationwide.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
Leads nursing practice to promote an exceptional patient experience.
Ensures purposeful hourly rounding is consistently integrated into patient care and validates compliance through observation and feedback.
Assesses staff competency in rounding and provides ongoing coaching and feedback.
Conducts regular patient and staff rounding.
Communicates patient experience and staff engagement data to support action planning and improvement initiatives.
Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, escalating concerns as needed.
Addresses patient concerns promptly and provides service recovery when appropriate.

Quality & Safety
Promotes a safe, patient-centered environment that supports professional nursing practice.
Identifies and investigates practice or operational issues and implements corrective action plans.

Operations & Administration
Supports departmental mission, vision, goals, and objectives across patient care units.
Provides operational and clinical oversight for staffing, resources, collaboration, and financial performance.
Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
Supports staff engagement, recruitment, retention, and performance management.
Maintains compliance with NJ DOH, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
Oversees 24-hour patient care operations, staffing, throughput, and resource management.
Monitors budgets, overtime, vacancies, equipment, and supply management.
Ensures confidentiality of patient and employee information.
Evaluates staff performance and provides mentoring, coaching, counseling, and discipline as needed.
Ensures completion of orientation, competencies, and annual education requirements.
Conducts department meetings and communicates organizational updates, policies, and initiatives.
Recognizes and rewards staff contributions to quality and safety initiatives.
Facilitates organizational change and supports shared governance and staff engagement.
Interprets collective bargaining agreements and addresses staffing or assignment concerns.
Participates in staffing committees to ensure compliance with NJ staffing requirements.

Experience Requirements
3-5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience demonstrating solid management abilities.
Must possess relevant clinical expertise in adult, geriatric, child, and detox.
Proven clinical and nursing administrative expertise in the assigned nursing practice area.
Critical thinking and organizational skills are essential.
Licensing and Certification Requirements
Licensed as a registered nurse, New Jersey
Master's in Nursing required
Child abuse certification is required
Infection control certification is required
Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA is required
