Susan Sheehan Gallery seeks a full-time gallery assistant for an established gallery dealing primarily in post-war American fine art original prints. The ideal candidate will possess a BA or higher, preferably in art history or related field, and have experience in a similar position. Superior organizational skills, precise attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines are necessary to the position. Duties of this role include but are not limited to: Sales Support • Creating fact sheets and assisting with compiling research about artists and artworks for review by clients and internal use• Keeping information about artworks up to date and thoroughly organized across our website, various online platforms, and internal files• Creating and formatting price lists for exhibitions and art fairs• Using Photoshop and/or similar programs to edit photos and create scale mockups• Writing essays and using In Design and Issuu to create on-line e-catalogues for art fairs• Creating online viewing rooms for art fairs Communications and Social Media • Assisting with writing and sending weekly newsletters and creating content for the gallery’s social media accounts on a regular schedule, particularly Instagram• Maintaining and expanding the mailing list General Administration • Organizing and maintaining office and kitchen supplies, gallery and library• Assisting with maintaining gallery inventory and client database•.Assisting with sourcing and preparing supplies and materials for art fairs• Performing various administrative tasks as they arise•.Completing other duties and projects as assigned Requirements: • BA or higher (art history, arts administration, or related field preferred)• Previous experience in a gallery, auction house, or art institution. Understanding of the workflow of an art gallery and a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in a gallery or comparable art world setting required• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills• Exceptional research, writing, proofreading, and editing skills• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team• Ability to take initiative and to take responsibility for completing independent day to day tasks and help with moving special projects forward• Mac and Google Workspace proficiency (Word and Excel); intermediate Adobe Creative Suite knowledge; experience with CMS database systems; familiarity with Issuu, Mailchimp, and Sketch Up desirable• Experience with digital marketing tools and social media platforms, especially Instagram; working knowledge of Google Analytics, CRO and SEO a plus•Must be extremely detail-oriented and able to prioritize and work on multiple projects at once•Strong problem solving, time management and writing skills, including accurate proofreading•Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines The position is full time. The gallery is open Monday-Friday, 10am to 6pm, with additional hours needed during art fairs occurring approximately four times a year.
