The Department of Counselor Education at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for anticipated part-time adjunct faculty openings. Adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching assigned courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level during designated semesters. Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online formats. Brightspace, SUNY Brockport's learning management system, is used to organize course materials for all assigned courses. Course assignments are contingent on program enrollment and faculty staffing needs.
Essential Functions:
- Teaches assigned courses.
- Reads and reviews all course-related materials (e.g. required textbooks and articles, manuals) prior to the start of the course.
- Reads the EDC Adjunct Manual and adheres to the policies and procedures within it.
- Preps weekly lecture materials and activities.
- Creates the course in Brightspace, including uploading all needed course materials, assignments, and activities, and having all available to students one week prior to the beginning of the course each semester.
- Reviews emails received at their SUNY Brockport assigned email address on a daily basis.
- Responds to all emails within 48 hours of receipt.
- Grades all completed assignments from students within one week of receiving them.
- Provides supportive, developmental, and corrective feedback on academic and professional disposition areas of concern to students as needed throughout the semester.
- Notifies and collaborates with the EDC Chair on any academic and professional disposition concerns as they arise with students.
- Completes and monitors all required paperwork, including Course Incomplete and Incomplete Removal forms.
- Submits student grades via Banner by the semester due date.
- Consults with the EDC Chair as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:- Master's degree in counseling from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:- Teaching and/or supervision experience
- Graduated from a CACREP-accredited counseling program
Work Schedule: Variable
Salary and Benefits:
