The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at SUNY Brockport i
s accepting applications for part-time adjunct faculty openings. The department typically hires adjunct faculty to teach classroom or laboratory-based courses for general chemistry, organic chemistry, chemistry for the health sciences, and analytical chemistry. These areas represent typical and regular needs but not all inclusive.
Essential Functions:
Teaching (100%)
- Teaches assigned courses. For lecture assignments, responsibilities include preparing material and instructing for 3 hours per week per assignment. Laboratory support responsibilities include instruction and monitoring 3 hours of laboratory activity per week per assignment. Possible courses taught include CHM 111, 205, 206, 260, 303, 305, 306, 313
- Responsible for associated grading
- Engages in experiential and hands-on education when appropriate
- Produces effective course materials
- Achieves student learning outcomes
- Holds open office hours for students
Minimum Qualifications:- Master’s degree in chemistry or closely related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, or an internationally recognized college or university, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:- Doctorate in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Significant university teaching experience. However, candidates with demonstrated strong backgrounds in secondary education may also be considered
Work Schedule: Variable
Salary and Benefits:
