Summary: The Business Development Manager actively drives revenue and margin growth of medical customers for Vaupell’s unique capabilities. Primary focus is on developing and strengthening strategic customer relationships, this includes generating RFQ’s, developing proposals and closing new business opportunities. Works with program managers, engineering, tooling, purchasing, finance, quality, and outside sources to ensure new business can be quoted, with optimum quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities and Duties

Work closely with the Business Director, Medical on a Business Development strategy, tactics, and initiatives to support the targeted growth of the relevant market segments.

Provide market and competitive intelligence to support growth targets, forecasts, and budget activities.

Target and analyze specific customers to obtain customer intelligence and insights that align with the Vaupell value offering.

Develop comprehensive customer engagement plans to generate new profitable business from new and existing strategic customers (potentially in collaboration with Program Manager).

Develop and provide sell price for product quotations. Lead quoting activity as necessary including costing, pricing, and writing proposal letters. Work with program, managers, engineering, tooling, purchasing, finance, quality, and outside sources to secure proper quotations and other deliverables as applicable (eg. Technical and Commercial proposals).

Lead or support contract review and negotiations as required.

Nurture an interface with existing and potential strategic customers on product design and development, material selection & processing considerations

Assist in preparing annual sales budget and contribute to the Vaupell business segment 5Y business plan.

Participate in the preparation for and handling trade shows, seminars, on-site demonstrations, customer plant visits, audits, etc.

Focus on customer development, existing and new. The goal is to establish a partnership with targeted strategic accounts. Develop relationships with the senior level managers.

Travel to customers and other Vaupell facilities as necessary to support business development initiatives.

Manage customer relationships & support customer satisfaction. Refer customer concerns and requests to Program Managers, Customer Service Representative, and Plant Managers, as appropriate.

Qualification and Skills
-
BS or master’s degree in a relevant science/engineering or business management discipline or equivalent.

4-8 years’ experience preferred in the medical field. Business Development or Sales experience in a manufacturing organization (Medical device OEM/Contract manufacturing strongly preferred). Focus on conceptual selling solutions and technical sales.

Knowledge and understanding in Medical Device OEM /Contract Manufacturing markets, with a focus on polymer technology.

Technical Knowledge Thermoplastic Materials, Injection Molding and other common Plastic Manufacturing processes.

Understanding of Quality Standards and Validations (IQ/OQ/PQs etc.).

General Knowledge of Lean Principles (Six Sigma, 5S).

Self-starting team player with the ability to work closely with peers, other departments and management.

Willingness and ability to travel 25%-50% of the time.
