Overview

Duties
- Manage the complete payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and reconciliation to ensure accurate employee compensation
- Oversee payroll software platforms such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or PeopleSoft to streamline payroll operations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements
- Conduct account reconciliations related to payroll expenses and liabilities within the general ledger accounting system
- Collaborate with Human Resources to administer benefits programs and process related deductions accurately
- Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, journal entries, and audit trails for internal review and external audits
- Prepare reports on payroll costs, tax filings, and other financial data for management review
- Support non-profit accounting practices when applicable, including grants management and governmental reporting standards
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes related to employee reimbursements or vendor payments
- Perform analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or trends that could impact financial planning or compliance efforts
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar tools for bookkeeping and financial tracking
- Execute account reconciliation procedures ensuring accuracy of debits & credits within the general ledger system
- Support benefits administration activities including enrollment updates and compliance documentation
- Maintain proficiency in technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
Requirements
- Proven experience managing payroll operations within a corporate or nonprofit environment using systems like Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian
- Strong understanding of payroll management principles combined with knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) platforms
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks along with general ledger accounting practices
- Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy and detailed recordkeeping for audit readiness
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll taxes and reporting requirements at local, state, and federal levels
- Experience with benefits administration processes including deductions and compliance documentation
- Solid understanding of governmental accounting standards when applicable for nonprofit organizations or public sector entities
- Excellent analysis skills for reviewing payroll data, reconciling accounts, and identifying discrepancies
- Technical proficiency in bookkeeping tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliation, debits & credits management
- Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently for data processing tasks
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in double entry bookkeeping and financial analysis
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments including Human Resources and Finance teams
