From smart classrooms and collaborative learning spaces to advanced media labs, our team is dedicated to delivering reliable, high-quality technology services that enhance the educational experience.Reporting to the Senior Manager of Learning Space Operations, the Assistant Manager of the University Center oversees daily operations, staff supervision, and technology support for the University Center Lab and related academic technology spaces. This role leads a team of Technology Center Supervisors and student workers, ensuring high-quality service, efficient operations, and prompt resolution of technical issues. The position also serves as Manager-on-Duty for other academic spaces, responding to in-class technology support needs and coordinating with IT teams to maintain smooth operations. CORE CAPABILITIES AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLab Operations ManagementOversee day-to-day operations of the University Center Lab, including staff scheduling, timecard processing, and part-time hiring.Act as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts, overseeing learning space operations and part-time staff across facilities.Identify and proactively address operational challenges.Staff Supervision and DevelopmentTrain, mentor, and supervise staff to deliver exceptional customer service and technical support.Inventory and Resource ManagementMonitor and manage lab consumables; create purchase orders and maintain inventory of printing supplies.Technical Support and Equipment MaintenanceSupport and troubleshoot lab-specific equipment, including printers, plotters, and Epson Photo Printers.Provide in-class technical assistance for smart classrooms, escalating issues as needed.Collaboration and Strategic PlanningCollaborate with the Senior Manager to assess operations, collect and present data, and recommend improvements.Additional ResponsibilitiesPerform additional duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in educational technology or related field, or equivalent professional experience.Experience managing fast-paced technology service facilities and supervising part-time staff.Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.Working knowledge of digital and/or print media workflows, with an interest in support and management systems.Advanced technical, administrative, and communication skills (written and verbal).Documented experience in management, computer systems, multimedia, and customer service.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in an academic environment.Knowledge of audio/video processes.Familiarity with ITIL or other IT Service Management frameworks.Experience with customer service ticketing systems.WORK MODEOn Campus - This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs.
