The Calder Foundation, a nonprofit institution dedicated to preserving the legacy of the artist Alexander Calder, is seeking to hire a full-time Intellectual Property Administrator. This position is supervised by the Calder Foundation’s general counsel and will assist with licensing, protecting, and maintaining the Foundation’s intellectual property. Responsibilities:LicensingField all licensing requests via the Foundation’s rights agencies around the world and manage the Foundation’s multi-department internal review of these requestsAssist the general counsel with drafting licensing agreementsProcess related payment reports and create royalty payment schedules for the Foundation’s controllerCreate and file physical and digital records for all licenses and maintain the Foundation’s merchandise archiveInfringementsIdentify infringements of the Foundation’s intellectual propertyReport infringements via DMCA takedown notices, cease and desist letters, and via the Foundation’s rights agenciesMaintenance/ResearchFile trademark renewals and handle correspondence with the USPTOKeep records of and do research into the Foundation’s IP and licensesCompose research memos for the general counselMiscellaneousMaintain calendars and SharepointsAct as primary person in charge of answering office phonePerform other administrative tasks such as ordering office supplies, running errands, and supervising visitors Requirements:A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, and at least one year of administrative experience (no legal experience or JD required)Computer literacy in macOS and Microsoft365Excellent attention to detail, communication, organizational, and time management skillsAn interest in the Artist and the Foundation’s activities and mission as well as an eagerness to learn about intellectual property and art lawFluency in written and spoken French is preferred (but not required)Working hours: M–F 10am–6pm, in-person
