Diller Scofidio + Renfro is an interdisciplinary studio at the intersection of architecture, the visual arts, and the performing arts. Based in New York City, Diller Scofidio + Renfro is led by three partners who work collaboratively with a staff of 100 architects, artists and administrators.The studio is seeking a Communications Manager to work with the Communications Director and closely with DS+R leadership. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team that is responsible for communicating DS+R’s ethos and portfolio of work, which focuses on civic and cultural works that include the High Line, Lincoln Center, The Shed, the Museum of Modern Art, and the V&A East Storehouse, as well as a number of art installations, exhibitions, and performance works. The Communications Manager will assist in the opening of multiple building openings and important milestones for major institutions including MIT, Rice University, and The Broad Expansion. This position reports to the Director of Communications and will require reporting to our Chelsea studio in person to collaborate with the team.ResponsibilitiesField and fulfill press, lectures, speaking engagements, and exhibition requests and inquiriesAssist the Partners in preparing presentations for lectures and speaking engagementsMonitor press coverage and produce press summariesMaintain the studio’s online presence, including the website, YouTube channel, LinkedIn, and InstagramManage awards submissionsPlan and manage communications for events, awards, galas, and conferencesTrack and support firm events and staff engagements, including project openings and studio toursUpdate and maintain studio database (physical and digital)Work with the Director of Communications to maintain a PR calendar for upcoming project openings, milestones, and eventsAssist in preparing press releases and press kitsAssist in coordinating project photographyMaintain bios/CVs for leadershipLead internal communications, including sharing a quarterly newsletter to keep staff up to date on projects and coordinating staff forumsOccasionally assist in coordinating filming, video production, and video editingQualificationsStrong interest in the visual and performing arts, design, and urbanismUnderstanding of DS+R’s work and perspectiveExceptional verbal and written English; other languages are a plusEditing and proofreading skills, strong attention to detailExperience in website management (CMS)Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in related fieldsProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and strong visual abilityRelevant professional communications or marketing experience4–6 years’ experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry (preferred)Demonstrated organizational and project management skillsPeople management experience, including working with senior leadershipStorytelling experience
