The Museum grew from this early commitment to queer art and artists. Through over fifty years of exhibitions, programming, and collecting, we have forefronted the interrelationship of art and social justice for LGBTQIA+ communities in New York City and beyond.Today, the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art is the only art museum in the world dedicated to the artistic exploration of multi-faceted queer perspectives, embracing the challenges of a rapidly evolving society, and putting into action a better world for LGBTQIA+ people—with artists leading the way. Offering several major exhibitions a year, LLMAembraces the power of the arts to inspire, explore, and foster understanding of the rich diversity of LGBTQIA+ experiences. Our collection includes nearly 30,000 objects spanning three centuries, and an artist archive that contains information on over 4,000 LGBTQIA+ artists—both those represented in the collection and others of interest to LGBTQIA+ audiences. The Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with officialaccreditation by the American Alliance of Museums.JOB SUMMARYThe Experience and Operations Manager prioritizes museum & exhibition education, efficiency, and cultivates museum brand buy-in while creating a welcoming experience for all visitors. The Experience and Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring a positive and meaningful experience for Museum guests, and the smooth operation of the Visitor Experience Team. This includes the following areas: 1) Management of the Visitor Experience (VE) Team, 2) Tours and Events, 3) Front Desk Visitor Donations, Memberships and POS 4) Museum Facility.GENERAL DUTIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:1) Management of the VE teamWorking familiarity with the Museum including Staff, Collections and Exhibitions, History and Culture, Operations and Constituents;Oversee the Visitor Experience team to ensure the team runs smoothly and positive guest experiences are prioritized;Manage weekly schedule and payroll processing for Visitor Experience team.2) Tours and EventsLiaise with general public, school and University groups interested in hosting tours, including educational events, at the Museum by scheduling dates, times, and confirming pricing of tours;Lead exhibition tours for general public, school and University groups;Lead the development and production of the Museum’s Bloomberg Connects digital guide;Serve as a liaison between Visitor Experience and Public Programs departments to ensure a welcoming and prepared experience for staff and members of the public.3) Visitor Donations, Memberships and Shop SalesWelcome guests, encourage and receive donations with a commitment to growing donorship and audiences;Collaborate with External Affairs and Executive Team to execute Museum Membership initiatives and build Membership;Manage the Museum Info@ email account;Manage Museum merchandise sales and inventory, including online bookshop;Represent the Museum at various institutional arts groups including SoHo Arts Network (SAN) and Museum, Arts and Culture Access Consortium (MAC), among others.4) Museum FacilityServe as point of contact for janitorial and maintenance vendors;Support the Director of Engagement and Operations in responding to urgent Operations and Facilities needs;Ensure the Museum public areas are clean and in working condition;Additional duties as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTSMinimum 2 years working in a similar management position, preferably museum-related;Minimum 1 years working in customer service, preferably in a sales, retail, or food service environment;Experience leading museum tours in a variety of contexts including students and the general public;Experience liaising with vendors and maintenance staff;Excellent organizational and multitasking skills;Pleasant and welcoming demeanor;Proven ability to work as part of a team;Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite;Knowledge of/experience with POS systems;Interest in artwork which speaks to the LGBTQIA+ experience;Ability to lift 50 pounds;Discretion, trustworthiness.Weekends are mandatory for this role. This is a full time, 5 day a week salaried position (40 hours per week), including some evenings.
