Open Call for Teaching Artist RosterWe are seeking experienced teaching artists to work in New York City K-12 schools and Older Adult Centers. Opportunities include:In School Artist Residencies for K-12 students, including Diverse LearnersAfterschool Artist Residencies in K-12 SchoolsArtist residencies in Older Adult CentersTeaching artists develop and lead multi-session visual arts partnerships. Teaching artists integrate their artistic practice into the arts residency curriculum. Responsibilities • Lead multi-session art-making residencies in schools and or Older Adult centers• Develop thematic visual arts curriculum and supporting lesson plans that integrate gallery exhibitions and school curriculum• Familiarity with Blueprint for the Arts and National Blueprints for the Arts Standards. • Compile lists of necessary art-making materials• Document residency through photos, videos, and attendance Qualifications BA or BFA in Studio Art required MFA or MA preferred, in Fine Arts, Museum Education, Art History, Education, Architecture, or related fields Requirements Experience as a teaching artist or arts educator with K-12 Students, and or Older AdultsExperience teaching in public school settingsExperience designing lesson plans and/ or visual arts curriculumOngoing personal visual arts practice and exhibition history Expertise and experience teaching K-12 Students and/or Older Adults in one or more of the following:• Painted Murals• Mosaic Murals• Painting• Drawing• Collage• Digital Media – Stop motion animation• Sculpture• Ceramics – kiln and non-kiln work• Fiber Arts – embroidery, crochet, weaving and more Experience teaching students with disabilities and multilingual learners is preferred.Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
