A contemporary art gallery located in downtown Manhattan focusing on intercultural dialogue is looking for an administrative intern currently in school to start immediately. This is an exciting opportunity to learn how to organize exhibitions and to get exposed to the workings of a gallery showing a wide roster of local and international artists. IMPORTANT: your school must have an ability to apply the internship experience towards your academic credit.The intern will have the chance to enhance their research, editing and organization skills and their ability to interact with various constituents in the field. This role is ideal for candidates seeking to gain more experience in the art world and particularly in a contemporary gallery/start-up operations. The internship will be supervised by am experienced member of the gallery\'s staff and will enhance the applicant\'s professional skills and future prospects of employment within the industry.Duties:Reception duties: greeting visitors and providing exhibition information, answering the phone, etc.Data entryCreating and editing exhibition materials and doing research on artistsPhotography editingManaging Artsy pageAssisting with event managementDesired qualifications:Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program - requiredEnrolled in program that can issue school credit - requiredClose familiarity with Microsoft, MAC Office and Google Suites; and Adobe Suite, including Photoshop – required.Excellent research and organization skillsStrong writing skillsA background in art or art history Polished, professional demeanorReliability, attention to detail and punctuality – very importantAs this internship sometimes requires moving a variety of objects, you must be comfortable with hands-on tasks, including occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs). Min 3 days per week commitment with occasional availability for a few exhibition openings after hours.
