Art Advisory Internship (In-person | Stipend)Moeller Fine Art, specializing in museum-quality 19th to 20th Century and Contemporary art, seeks an intern who is motivated to gain gallery experience and is passionate about art history. A minimum of a completed BA in Art History is essential for this position. Moeller Fine Art has a reputation of focusing on scholarship and is involved with authentication and in the writing of Catalogues Raisonnés. As part of a small team, the successful candidate will gain valuable professional and educational experience working on a variety of projects, which may include but are not limited to assisting with inventory management, reference library research, cataloguing works of art, helping the gallery with archival procedures, assisting with the writing and preparation of press releases and other promotional material, etc.The intern will work closely with and be supervised by the director, manager, and/or founder of the gallery, shadowing each role as opportunities permit. The intern should expect to have gained or progressed within the following skills and areas of professional development:- General gallery business and operations knowledge- Website, press, and social media content management - Administrative and office space management experienceIncluding responsibilities:- Assist in organization of art reference library, including catalogues raisonnés.- Assist in researching individual works of art, assist in writing detailed fact sheets, and catalogue entries.- Assist with drafting art historical texts for publications- Assist with the maintenance of the gallery’s digital archive- Assist with gallery press releases, email campaigns and marketing initiatives including social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)- Assist with maintaining and updating gallery website and inventory database- Compose and edit artist biographies- Assist Founder and President, and Gallery staff with projects as neededQualifications:- Minimum of a BA in Art History (completed)- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of handling correspondence - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint)- Proficiency with social media platforms- Familiarity with inventory management software such as ArtSystems, Exhibit-E preferred, but not requiredAbility to lift up to 50 pounds as some heavy lifting of works of art may occasionally be required. The position is in person only and offers a stipend. Minimum commitment 3 full days (preferably consecutive) at a stipend of $10 an hour.
