Matthew Marks Gallery seeks an experienced Registrar to join our existing team. The successful candidate must be able to manage both domestic and international fine art shipments, maintain comprehensive database records, and demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of fine art shipping and logistics. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, proactive and resourceful.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Uphold the gallery’s best practices for shipping, installation, storage, condition reporting, inventory, and data management-Coordinate a high volume of local, domestic, and international shipments to and from museums, galleries, clients, artists, and art fairs-Process, condition check, and catalogue incoming and outgoing artworks-Develop and maintain condition reports, loan agreements and consignments -Log all pertinent details in the gallery’s database; make real-time updates-Track and record expenses, obtain estimates, and compare shipping quotes to manage budgets effectively- Meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequently changing timeframesKey Skills/Experience:-Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience -Meticulous attention to detail-Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively -Familiarity with fine-art suppliers, packing/crating, modes of transport, and import/export compliance in the US and abroad -Knowledge of VAT, sales tax, and insurance as they pertain to shipments-Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and discretion -Understanding of modern and contemporary art and fine art materials-Experience using ArtBase preferredCompetitive compensation, health insurance, 401K, paid vacation and holidays.
