Senior Director, Sales & Market Development Taos or Santa Fe preferred | Remote considered for exceptional candidates with regular travel ABOUT THE GALLERY The Gallery manages a significant portfolio of consigned works and approximately 10,000 works from a range of important artist estates. The gallery is focused on strengthening sales execution, expanding collector reach, and increasing sell-through while protecting long-term artist legacy and market value. THE OPPORTUNITY The Senior Director, Sales & Market Development is the senior commercial leader for the gallery. This person builds the sales function, sets targets and standards, develops collector reach, manages sellers, and personally leads larger private-sale opportunities. WHAT YOU WILL DO Own sales strategy by artist, estate, market segment, channel, and priority inventory group. Manage, coach, and set clear performance standards for local sales leadership and future sales resources. Recruit, train, and direct a remote network of commission-based sales agents or referral partners. Personally lead high-value collector relationships, private sales, and complex negotiations. Establish CRM discipline, lead routing, forecasting, pipeline reporting, and accountability routines. Expand relationships with collectors, advisors, designers, brokers, institutions, and market intermediaries. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 10+ years of senior experience in fine art sales, gallery leadership, art advisory, luxury sales, or comparable relationship-driven sales leadership. Documented record of revenue growth, complex pipeline management, and high-value client relationship development. Experience leading sellers, remote agents, consultants, or commission-based producers with clear performance accountability. Strong pricing judgment, negotiation ability, deal leadership, and understanding of estate or secondary-market inventory. Ability to operate strategically while stepping into day-to-day selling when necessary. Willingness to maintain a meaningful presence in Taos/Santa Fe even if based elsewhere. PREFERRED BACKGROUND Network across collectors, advisors, dealers, galleries, designers, auction houses, or institutions. Experience building commission, referral, or distributed sales programs. Familiarity with CRM systems, Artlogic or similar inventory platforms, and formal forecasting cadence. COMPENSATION Senior base salary (DOE) plus personal commission, team override, and performance incentives.
