Actionplay, a disability-inclusive theatre nonprofit, is looking for a part-time Director of Programs to assist in our mission of providing autistic, neurodivergent, and disabled teens and adults with equal access to the theatremaking process. Actionplay’s signature program, the Action-Improv Musical Series (AIMS), is an inclusive improvisational music and theatre residency program. AIMS performers, in collaboration with Actionplay’s artistic team, create original pieces about their unique interests and passions in a supportive space. The goal of this program is to encourage greater confidence, increase communication and social skills, and provide the performers with valuable experience in crafting and performing an original musical. The Director of Programs will be a crucial member of the Actionplay team, assisting with the facilitation and coordination of the AIMS program, as well as our community choral initiative, the Actionplay Voices Choir, and our virtual acting intensive, the Actionplay Audition Workshop. The Director of Programs will report directly to Actionplay’s Interim Executive Director, Jackson Tucker-Meyer. Responsibilities include: Attending all AIMS rehearsals on Sunday mornings, 10am-12:30pm. Liaising with rehearsal and performance spaces to book space for all programs. Liaising between participants, parents, volunteers, and staff during enrollment and once programming begins. Coordinating with musicians, designers, designers, tech workers, and other contracted employees for performance production periods. Designing and launching online ticketing and fundraising pages for performances. Disseminating post-performance surveys to participants and audiences. Assisting with theatre exercises and room management during AIMS sessions. Assisting with the hiring of AIMS team members. Requirements: Passionate about working with the autistic / neurodivergent / disabled community One year of administrative experience in theatre, arts, education, nonprofits, or related fields Experience with Google Drive / Docs / Sheets Strong scheduling, planning, and organizational skills Available for 24 Sunday sessions, 10am-12:30pm October through April; 3 evening rehearsals May 4th, 6th, and 8th; and tech week plus performance weekend, May 11th-17th. Preferred qualifications: Classroom management skills – able to intervene in conflict while keeping rehearsal moving Degree in theatre production, applied theatre or a relevant field Experience working with autistic / neurodivergent / disabled high schoolers and college-aged adults Experience in devised theatre and/or musical theatre Start Date: September 1, 2026 Weekly hourlong onboarding meetings will commence in July and will be compensated at a rate of $20/hr, scheduled around the new hire’s hours. This job expects a time commitment of 12.5 hours per week, or 50 hours per month.
