Overview of the Organization: Concord AV is a collection of lighting and audio specialists who provide production and design services that emphasize innovation, precision, and audio-visual mastery. Formed by the founders of Studio RRD, and Audible Difference Inc.; Concord AV; is the exclusive vendor at the newly opened venue, Skylight Refinery. Together with the Skylight team, we aim to provide clients with a hyper-personalized experience, regardless of event size. Collaborating with them to bring their designs to life, provide a seamless production experience, and a lasting impact.Reports To: Manager of Projects and OperationsJob Overview: The Technical Supervisor will work closely with the Technical Project Manager to ensure all AV aspects of the venue, Skylight at Refinery operate smoothly and successfully. This position will serve as the Technical Director for the planning, coordination and execution of audio, lighting and video elements for all events. The ideal candidate is well versed in technical production, with a seamless ability to ensure efficiency and technical precision from initial budget and drawings through the on-site supervision of the load in, show and strike. In collaboration with the Technical Project Manager, the Technical Supervisor will ensure every client’s event is installed safely, within budget and to the clients’ specifications. Key Duties & Responsibilities:Collaborate with the Technical Project Manager to assess each event’s technical needs (lighting, sound, video, staging, labor, heavy equipment, power, production support, etc.) and communicate requirements to appropriate providers.Direct on-site production operations, including supervision of lighting, audio, and video crews; partner closely with programmers, audio engineers and other console operators.· Attend production-specific client walkthroughs alongside the Skylight Team, providing the client with a thorough understanding of the existing system’s capabilities. Identify and plan for logistical limitations and design opportunities.Oversee sub-vendors on-site setup, operations and breakdown, ensuring appropriate use of the space, safe operation, and timely execution.Maintain and care for the lighting and audio in-house system, ensuring that all equipment remains in good working order. Ensure any repair goes through the appropriate channels. Ensure all technical staff follow the approved production plan and budget; collaborate with the Technical Project Manager to flag and accurately assess any budgetary overages.Proactively work with clients and other vendors to problem solve and come up with solutions on the fly when unforeseen developments arise on-site.Ensure all events comply with safety standards, venue policies, and legal regulations.Collaborate with Skylight staff to act as a shepherd of the building in working to prevent damages to the building and proactively report damages or misuse of the space.Act as a technician/operator for the Concord AV house systems for small scale events. Assist in developing Concord AV technical standards, pricing structures, and equipment packages.Serve as Technical Supervisor for additional Concord AV venues and jobs as time allows; consult on technical specifications.Identify opportunities for venue efficiency improvements, upgrades, and optimizations, particularly during off-season periods.Maintain venue SOPs, technical specs paperwork and drawings, and other key documentation.Drafting coordination between departments to consolidate plots into a single VWX file for each project and rework client-provided drawings as needed to conform to venue allowancesQualifications:3-5+ years of technical experience in event production, venue technical management, theatrical production or similar, preferably with supervisory experience in an event venue in the New York City area.Demonstrated broad and deep knowledge of event production and technology, including lighting, audio, video and rigging to facilitate conversations between internal department leads and client team, as well as advancing production details directly with clients for overall event scope.Hands-on experience with digital audio consoles and Shure Axient systems including mixing up to 4 microphones, as well as operation and basic programming on ETC Eos lighting consoles. Willingness to learn new systems as needed.Understanding of power distribution and ability to allocate power for all departments within available resources.Comfort in safely operating pusharound and drivable scissor lifts, working at height and focusing theatrical lighting fixtures.Flexible schedule including night and weekend availability based on event timelines.Experience supervising production crews and freelance labor, with a demonstrated ability to enforce safety standards and venue policies, as well as keep projects on schedule and within budget.Strong organizational skills for maintaining files, tracking equipment, and working across multiple projects in different stages of the event cycle concurrently.Proficiency with Vectorworks for generating and merging all types of 2D and 3D drawings and detailed construction drawings; AutoCAD and/or Sketchup knowledge a plus.Bachelor’s degree in theatre production or similar preferred.This is a full-time exempt salaried position with a salary range of $75,000 - $95,000 per year, commensurate with experience. This is paid on a bi-weekly basis and includes health insurance, employer-matched 401k, and other benefits.
